Excerpt from their Africa diary: "16th Jan
The mountain road becomes more and more exhilarating with hairpin-bend climbs giving fantastic views into valley after valley. Heaven only knows how high we go. The camber on some of the bends is unbelievable, road deeply rutted too, for us this is first gear work but the van is going well. Travel 40 miles in three hours. Then its down, down, down onto a wide tawny plateau where its haytime, the land looks pretty productive but no-one seems to grow any vegetables or fruit. "
