Expedition Trip Details
The project seeks to complete a solo unsupported circumnavigation of continental Africa. The journey will cover 19000 miles (30000 km) over 1 year using transport only available to local populations. Coastal regions of Africa are economically ecologically and politically important with large population centres including 14 of 20 of Africa?s largest cities. Africa is widely considered unstable corrupt and destructive. However the project hopes to demonstrate that Africa pursues a diverse and productive future. The project will also observe modern Western-African relations through conversation to demonstrate that the coast is an opportunity rather than a boundary.
